What is a Dermal Filler?
Dermal filler treatments are used to restore bulk to the curves of the face and help smooth out wrinkles.
The process involves using a very fine needle to inject a hyaluronic acid gel beneath the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of skin tissue which maintains local moisture content and is gradually reabsorbed over time.
For filler treatments it is injected in the form of a transparent viscoelastic gel. The treatment we provide uses hyaluronic acid which has been bio-synthesised, (i.e. is not of animal origin)
Medical Disclaimer: Individual results from treatments may vary.
Typically the treatment is used for:
- Wrinkles around the Nose and / or Mouth
- Crows Feet around the Eyes
- Lines and Wrinkles on the Forehead
- Lip Augmentation
- Cheeks
What results can I expect, and how soon?
You will notice the filling effect immediately after treatment, although it may take a few days, (with lip augmentation up to 1 week) before the injected gel settles to its final effect.
Depending upon the area treated, dermal fillers help smooth medium to superficial wrinkles, fill out furrows, restore the sensuality of your lips and smooth the curves of your face.
The effects of the treatment usually last between six and nine months.
What’s the Down Time?
There is little or no down time after treatment. Immediately after injection there may be a slight redness, swelling and some tenderness and itching at the site of the treated areas. This is a normal effect of the injection. It is only temporary and usually will disappear within one or two days.
